             abstract = "This paper presents the temporal component in Geographic 
                         Information System (GIS) for monitoring deforestation and burned 
                         areas in Amazon. The integration of GIS, environmental legislation 
                         and remote sensing data allow temporal analysis and improve the 
                         inspection of these phenomenon, where the use of the multi-date 
                         MODIS data is a important tool for this propose, due to the 
                         radiometric and geometric quality of its images. The logic model 
                         was implemented in TerraLib format using the PostgreSQL database 
                         and to allow integrate data from DETER, PROARCO and PRODES 
                         program. The validation of the logic model implemented was 
                         evaluated with synthetic data, developing a prototype using SQL 
                         language and the PostGIS module, that demonstrated the 
                         feasibility, the benefits and the usefulness of this technology 
                         integrated with remote sensing.",
